LUNAR ECLIPSE VIEWING: Old Dominion University will hold an observation session Thursday night outside its Pretlow Planetarium to view the lunar eclipse. The session will be led by Bruce Hanna, director of the planetarium.
The eclipse is expected to be visible at about 8:40 p.m. and the moon will be completely covered from about 10:19 to 10:29.
The event is free and open to the public. Call 683-4108 Thursday evening for a weather update.
The planetarium is on 45th Street, next to the Alfriend Chemistry Building. Telescopes and binoculars will be available for visitors.
PORTSMOUTH
MEETING AT MUSEUM: The Portsmouth Regional Office of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources is holding a public meeting to get citizen input on the staff's work plan for the year that begins Tuesday.
Projects in that plan range from assisting property owners interested in a place on state and national registers to training volunteers to do architectural surveys in the community.
All four of the state's regional offices will be holding the public hearings, according to Regional Director E. Randolph Turner.
The Portsmouth regional office serves 19 counties and 11 cities from the Eastern Shore to James City County and from the North Carolina line to the Northern Neck.
The Resources Department's services include assistance with architectural and archaeological surveys, preservation plans, tax incentive and grant programs and archaeological assessments and stewardship plans.
Tonight's meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the planetarium of the Children's Museum of Virginia at 221 High St. For more information, call 396-6707. by CNB
