Jerry Currier Sr., 86, formerly of Lynchburg, died Monday Sept. 23, 1996, at his residence.
He was the husband of Grace Vaughan Currier. Born in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Elisha Currier and Mary Kidd Currier. Jerry was a member of Burrows Memorial Baptist Church in Norfolk. He worked for Craddock-Terry Shoe Co. for 13 years and was the retired civilian chief of the Fire Alarm Headquarters in Norfolk after 31 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jerry Currier Jr. of Norfolk; a daughter, Mary C. Smith of Richmond; two sisters, Dimple Bagby and Katherine Davis, both of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, Irene S. Baldwin of Virginia Beach, David R. Smith of Richmond, Romaine Holley and Brenda Holley, both of Ashburn, Ga., Debbie Collins of Edenton, N.C., Jerry Currier III of Smyrna, Ga., James G. Currier of Clover and Scarlett C. Currier of Norfolk; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Whitten Timberlake Chapel by Dr. Jerry Falwell. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to make memorial contributions, please consider the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, Va. 24501.
