Harvey Grant Jr., 71, of the 900 block of Baltimore Drive, died Sept. 22, 1996, in his home.
Born in Portsmouth, Mr. Grant was a municipal environmentalist. He was a member of Celestial Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Curry Grant; three daughters, Beatrice Grant, Tiffany Grant, both of New York, Cynthia Skirving of Miami, Fla.; a son, Larry Grant of New York; six sisters, Elizabeth Harris, Elsie Howard, the Rev. Ann Joyce Fortineau, Pecolia Bright, Audrey Webb, all of Portsmouth, Gwendolyn Williams of Fairfield, Va.; three brothers, Roscoe Grant Sr., George Grant Sr., both of Portsmouth, David Grant of Kentucky; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Celestial Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Leon J. Boone. The body will be cremated. Viewing will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers be omitted. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family and friends will assemble at 16 Holly Hill Lane, Portsmouth, for the procession to the church.
