Joseph Figueira Jr., 77, went home to be with his lord and savior on Sept. 18, 1996.
He was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church and the Men's Victory Bible Class. He retired from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in Boston, Mass., as superintendent of Surface Lines. He was a member of Somerville Lodge, AF & AM. He was the son of Joseph and Emily (Vincent) Figueira.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Figueira; his son, Russell Figueira; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Figueira; two treasured grandsons, Steven Figueira and Adam Figueira, all of Brookhaven, Pa.; three sisters, Ioa Gomes of Hialeah, Fla., Clarice Hutchinson, Georgia Noonan both of Melrose, Mass.
A memorial service will be held at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church Chapel at 7 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Figueira is buried in National Cemetery, Cape Cod, Mass.
