Bishop Monroe Clark, of the 100 block of Welch Road, died Sept. 22, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital, Virginia Beach.
Born in Pantego, N.C., he was the widower of Ruth Corine Clark. Mr. Clark was a church minister and member of Saint Stephens Holiness Church, Chesapeake.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Holmes, Catherine Clark, both of Chesapeake; five sisters, Mattie Whichard, Sudie Vines, both of Greenville, N.C., Louise Williams of Snow Hill, N.C., Marie Wallace of Grifton, N.C., Rosa Edwards of New Haven, Conn.; two brothers, Henry Clark and Frank Clark of Greenville; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many other surviving relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Saint Stephens Holiness Church, Chesapeake, by Bishop John R. Savage assisted by Elder Paul Arrington. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge.
