Herman A. ``Buddy'' Stone, 77, went home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He died Sept. 24, 1996, in his home.
A native of Norfolk, he retired from Naval Air Rework Facility and was a member of Norview United Methodist Church. Mr. Stone was an avid NASCAR racing fan.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Bessie D. Stone; two daughters, Linda Branch and her husband, Ricky, of Suffolk, and Bonnie Pettruny and her husband, Richard, of Virginia Beach; a brother, Jack Earl Stone of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Teresa, Richie, Darryl and Kristie; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. John F. Shappell. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
