The Jennifer Lea Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund got a boost over the weekend with a raffle and golf tournament that raised $6,600.
The raffle - a Disney vacation for four - was won by John Roberts of Chesapeake. The golf tournament, at Honey Bee Golf Club on Friday, drew 160 golfers.
Evans, 21, was slain here last year while on vacation. She was a dean's list student studying for a medical career. After her death, police officers Lou Thurston and Mike Carey established a scholarship fund in her name and have collected more than $22,000.
People may drop off a check at the media relations office at police headquarters in the Municipal Center or call the scholarship voice mailbox at 554-1558.
