Jerome Verne Mitchell, 66, of the 400 block of DeKalb Ave., died Sept. 25, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Mitchell was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Moose Lodge No. 898. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Wealthie Jean Mitchell; daughters, Katherine Anne Williams of Virginia Beach and Bettye Jean Mitchell, Portsmouth; and a grandchild, Constance Marie Williams.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Olive Branch Cemetery with military honors and Moose rites by the Rev. Tom Potter. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel.
