BEACH FIRM WINS TWO CONTRACTS FOR UP TO $84 MILLION WITH NAVY

A Virginia Beach-based inventory management firm has won two Navy contracts worth up to $84 million.

Under the renewal contracts, Management Consulting Inc. will provide logistics services and materials management throughout the United States to the Navy primarily, but also to other federal agencies.

One contract, worth up to $42.4 million, is for the western United States, Hawaii, Guam and Japan. The other is worth up to $41.5 million and is for the eastern half of the United States.

Each contract's ultimate value is tied to the number of delivery orders executed, said Richard Nygaard, the firm's director of contracts. Both contracts are for the coming federal fiscal year.

Management Consulting has been providing the services to the Navy in the eastern United States for six years and in the west for three years, Nygaard said.

The Virginia Beach-based firm employs about 300 people locally and even more nationwide.

Management Consulting was Hampton Roads' 10th-largest federal contractor in the 1995 federal fiscal year with $33.7 million of contract awards.

It was founded by Alfred R. ``Dick'' Clarke, a former Navy supply warrant officer, and his wife, Mary. They also own the pet supply catalog firm and warehouse Care-A-Lot on Diamond Springs Road. by CNB
