CHARLES P. HANBURY

Charles Paul Hanbury, 83, of the 5100 block of Holly Road died Sept. 25, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.

A Portsmouth native, Mr. Hanbury was president of Portsmouth Lumber Corp. and was a member of the Churchland Baptist Church. He was director of Portsmouth General Hospital and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia. He was a member of Portsmouth Assembly, Portsmouth Kiwanis Club, Hoo Hoo International and the Architectural Woodworking Institute. Mr. Hanbury also was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Irene C. Hanbury; daughters, Virginia H. Williams of Norfolk and Betty H. Motley of Chesapeake; sons, Charles Paul Hanbury Jr. of Norfolk and Ernest C. Hanbury of Chesapeake; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Churchland Baptist Church by Dr. R. Clint Hopkins. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorials can be made to the charity of one's choice. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is in charge.
