Tanzetta Benton, of the 2800 block of Oklahoma Ave., died Sept. 26, 1996, in Virginia Beach Hospital.
Born in North Carolina, she was the widow of William Fred Benton and was a member of St. John A.M.E., Norfolk. She participated in the gospel choir, Sunday School, Usher Board (NU)1, What So-Ever Club, Nannie C. Phelps Missionary Circle, Old Lindenwood Fellowship Group. She was a charter member of the Adeline Ward Chapter 197 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a niece, Gwenette Harold and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon in St. John A.M.E. Church by Dr. I.W. Knight Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family assemble at 11:15 in Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home.
