OSCAR D. JENKINS

Oscar Dewitt Jenkins, 79, of the 200 block of Hurdle Drive, died Wednesday Sept. 25, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Jenkins was born in Gastonia, N.C. and was the son of the late Oscar Raymond and Gertrude Whitesides Jenkins. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Floyd Jenkins, Clyde Jenkins and Ray Jenkins. He was a master carpenter. Mr. Jenkins was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Robinson Jenkins; his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Clint Nirdlinger of Chesapeake; his two sons, William Jenkins of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Jenkins of Richmond; his two sisters, Lillian Sellers of Cherryville, N.C., Joyce Dunn of Gaffney, S.C.; his brother, Norman Jenkins of Bessemer City, N.C.; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Oak Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. W. Roberts McIvor. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 4 to 6 p.m. today.
