Mr. Wilbert Jennings McClenney, 81, of 1637 US 17-North, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, at his residence.
A native of Chowan County, Mr. McClenney was a son of the late Dema Raby and William Thomas McClenney and the husband of Dannie Perry McClenney of the home. Mr. McClenney was a retired farmer and a member of the Capeharts Baptist Church.
Surviving other than his wife are three daughters, Sylvia M. Bunch of Edenton, N.C., Caroline M. Pratt of Merry Hill, Mary M. White of Hertford, N.C.; two sons, W.J. (Jay) McClenney Jr. of Merry Hill, Thomas P. McClenney of Edenton; a brother, James Willis McClenney of Boone, N.C.; a sister, Martha Roundtree of Sunbury, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Capeharts Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Williams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Merry Hill-Midway Fire Department. The Evans Funeral Home of Edenton is serving the McClenney Family.
