In response to Rick Hutson's letter, ``Don't drop fees'' (Sept. 21): While I can sympathize with Mr. Hutson not wanting to support others' education with his tax money, I feel that he doesn't have the complete picture. I recently began taking classes at Old Dominion University and was informed that I would have to pay out-of-state tuition rates. Why? Because I am on active duty in the military.
My children go to school here and I support local charities and organizations. For all intents and purposes, this is my home, and I do not plan on moving again. What really irks me is I own a house in Norfolk, pay local taxes, have a Virginia driver's license and my cars are registered in Norfolk.
How can Mr. Hutson tell me I'm not entitled to some cake, since I'm paying for it?
