Plotline: Based on a feature film, this is about ex-Marine Louanne Johnson teaching kids who don't want to learn in gritty urban setting where being cool is top priority. The school has a youth gangs counselor. It's that tough.
Mini-review: Potts is terrific as the teacher who tells her gang ip front: "I never sugar-coat and I never lie." Pilot is one of the two best I;ve seen this TV season. It's been done before - hard-nosed teacher strives to rescue hopeless students - but Potts is do darn good that she'll hook you on this series. *** 1/2 (Out of a possible five). ILLUSTRATION: ABC
