CAREER TRACK

ACCOUNTING

Michael E. Livingston was appointed tax manager with the firm of E. Wayne Bostain in Virginia Beach. He was previously a tax associate.

Mark Gottfried was named an associate at the firm of Thomas A. Smith Jr. in Newport News. He was former manager of small business consulting for Deloitte & Touche in Indianapolis. He has also had his own accounting and consulting practice.

BANKING

Cindy Taylor was named branch manager and Amber Ridgely was promoted to home banking manager at Chartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach. Taylor will be responsible for the overall operations of the Great Bridge and Western Branch locations. Prior to joining Chartway, she was a branch manager with NationsBank, Norfolk. Ridgely will be responsible for the overall direction and day-to-day operation of home banking service. Prior to this, she participated in the management training program at Chartway.

LAW

James T. Lloyd Jr. has opened his own general practice of law in Norfolk. Lloyd was previously with Clark & Stant in Virginia Beach and was an attorney advisor to the United States Trustee.

Neal C. Schulwolf has joined the firm of Goldblatt, Lipkin & Cohen in Norfolk. He specializes in personal injury, medical malpractice and general litigation. He was formerly with Diamonstein, Becker and Staley in Virginia Beach.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Sharon Swink was named staffing manager with Accountemps, a division of Robert Half International. She was previously with Vik Brothers Insurance Group in Raleigh, N.C.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Craig J. Helm has opened an ophthalmology practice in Norfolk. He specializes in corneal diseases, corneal transplants and refractive surgery. He formerly practiced at the Portsmouth Naval Regional Medical Center while stationed at Langley Air Force Base.

Dr. Charles A. Lisner, an internist, is practicing at the Sentara Medical Group, Consultants In Internal Medicine in Norfolk. He completed his medical internship and residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in 1994 and 1996 respectively.

Dr. Witold A. Turkiewicz has joined the Center for Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases as a rheumatologist at the Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach offices. Prior to this, he did his fellowship training at Georgetown University Medical Center.

MARITIME

George B. Foley was named managing director of procurement and material handling at Norfolk Shipbuilding & Drydock Corp. in Norfolk. He was previously associated with Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Texas.

And, Michael Harding was named safety and health manager at the company. Prior to this, he was a corporate safety and risk manager at the former Virginia Beach corporate headquarters of Home Quarters.

MEDIA

International Family Entertainment Inc. appointed Kevin Crum as director of national promotions. He will be based in Virginia Beach and was previously the company's national promotions manager.

Also, Tracy Barrett was named director of special projects at International Family Entertainment in Virginia Beach. She was previously regional marketing manager, Southeast region for Turner Network Sales in Atlanta.

Nancy Lewis was named circulation marketing manager for The Virginian-Pilot. Lewis has been with the company since 1981 and was previously single copy sales manager. Mary Whelchel will assume the position of single copy sales manager. Prior to this, she was a team management coach for the newspaper.

MORTGAGE

Harold McGee was named a senior loan officer at George Mason Mortgage Corp. in Virginia Beach. Prior to this, he was a loan officer with Resource Mortgage Corp. in Virginia Beach. He has been in the mortgage industry for 28 years.

ORGANIZATIONS

The Virginia Retail Merchants Association elected Bryon Weedon of Sears, Roebuck & Co. as chairman and G. Conoly Phillips of Conoly Phillips Lincoln-Mercury, first vice chairman.

Jeanne Ganier was elected president for the Hampton Roads chapter of the American Marketing Association for the 1996-97 term. Ganier is employed with International Family Entertainment.

J.R. Snell of Roof Tops Inc. in Virginia Beach was elected president of the Virginia Association of Roofing Contractors. Teresa Monds of Roof Engineering Corp. in Norfolk was elected first vice president.

The Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association elected McKim Beale of First Jefferson Mortgage in Newport News as president.

George O. Sadler, president of Glenn & Sadler, was elected president of the Consulting Engineers Council of Virginia for the 1996-97 term.

Rodney Oliver was elected president of the Virginia Peninsula chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia elected James P. Bradner, president of the Chesapeake Agency, vice chairman and Charles J. Cralle of Virginia Beach as chairman elect.

The Greater Tidewater Virginia Chapter No. 137 National Association of Women in Construction elected Susan H. Rathbone of Steel Services Inc., as president and Marina W. Allen of Snow Jr. & King Inc. as vice president.

SERVICES

Sherie D. Chasse was promoted to controller at Miller Oil Co., Norfolk. She joined the company in 1989 and was previously the accounting manager.

TECHNICAL

W.J. Ecker, a retired Coast Guard rear admiral, was promoted from operational manager to vice president, privatization at S3 LTD in Virginia Beach. He most recently served as 5th District commander with the Coast Guard in Portsmouth.

TELEMARKETING

Rebecca J. Wheeler was named executive vice president and chief operating officer for Jobs For Handicapped in Virginia Beach. She was formerly vice president. William J. Brunke was promoted to vice president-finance. He was controller of the corporation. And E. Odell Akers was named vice president-operations. He was previously communications manager.
