Eleanor Zena Jones Boyce of the 800 block of Bouie Court died Sept. 27, 1996, in her home.
A native of Franklin, Mrs. Boyce retired as an electrician at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 10 years. She was a lifelong member of the Noble Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and a former usher, senior choir member and was active in various committees there. She was also a member of Venus Chapter (NU)56, Order of Eastern Star. She was the first chairperson and organizer of the Douglas Park Reunion and worked on many community, political and civic organizations.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Boyce; a son, Kevin J. Jones of Atlanta; Alfreda Wright Taylor of Wheaton, Md., with whom she was raised as a sister; brothers, Franklin R. Turner and Alvin F. Turner, both of Portsmouth; a grandchild, Kevin Justin Jones of Atlanta; five sisters-in-law, Gladys Turner, Towanna Turner, Marie B. Jones, Otelia B. Miller and Rocky Lee B. Flood; three brothers-in-law, Theolphus Boyce, Kever Boyce and Fred Boyce; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Noble Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Childs. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will be at Corprew Funeral Home at noon today. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
