Nellie Wickings Mahoney, 88, formerly of Norfolk, died Sept. 26, 1996, in Chesapeake.
Born in the Oceana area of Virginia Beach, she was the widow of Albert L. Williams and George Mahoney. She retired from the Comptroller Department of Naval Air Station after 33 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean S. Bowen of Portsmouth and her husband, Claude; a son, Robert Mahoney of Chesapeake and his wife, Mary Diane; a sister, Ernestine McCoy of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Claudia Jean Bowen, Elizabeth Mahoney Hansen and her husband, Lars Hansen, Dr. Robert Kevin Mahoney and his wife, Teresa C. Mahoney, William Patrick Mahoney; four great-grandchildren, Kate and Sarah Hansen, Lauren E. Mahoney and Kevin Joseph Mahoney.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Evelyn Puckett. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Colonial Ave. United Methodist Church.
