As with many others, I fear I had allowed the Tidewater Winds Concert Band to slip through my cultural life, but not this summer! Indeed, in ecstatic joy I experienced its entire season and found that delight which had the touch to renew one's musical spirit.
To our advantage, Sidney Berg's Tidewater Winds performed in the various cities of southside Hampton Roads, a rare and unique access. We were struck by the fact the concerts were free, supported not by paid admissions but by the cities, art agencies, businesses and individuals.
It is said that all of us miss many of the features that make Hampton Roads great, but I have caught on to one of them and I can hardly wait for the 1997 season.
