BLANCHE E. HUDGINS

Blanche Erwood Hudgins, 76, of Guardian Care Nursing Home, Elizabeth City, died Sept. 29, 1996, in Albemarle Hospital.

Formerly of Sunbury, Mrs. Hudgins was born in Philadelphia. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 7312 and had formerly served as state president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was the wife of the late William P. Hudgins.

Survivors include two daughters, Sally H. Fentress of Kitty Hawk, N.C., and Sandra H. Smith of Sunbury; a sister, Patricia Koch of Champlin, Minn.; two grandchildren, Barbara E. Ross and William C. Smith; one great-grandson, Christopher E. Ross.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Philadelphia United Methodist Church, Sunbury, by the Rev. Stan Easty and the Rev. Lisa Creech-Bledsoe. Burial will be in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Rt. 1, Hwy. 32 North, Sunbury. Memorials can be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad.
