Susie Hayes Baker, 84, of the 500 block of Ashton Ave. died Sept. 29, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Baker was born in Gates County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late William Royal and Miriam Bradshaw Hayes. She was the widow of Edward Ryland Baker. She was a retired seamstress and a member of the Franklin Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Kaye B. Wade, and her husband, Donnie, of Franklin; three grandchildren, Dana W. Williamson and her husband, Ray, of Virginia Beach, Donald E. Wade Jr. of Atlanta and Robert E. Wade of Raleigh, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Sarah B. Williamson and Caroline P. Williamson.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand and the Rev. Sharon James. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Kaye and Donnie Wade at 1121 N. High St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N. High St., Franklin, Va. 23851.
