Cornell J. ``Pappy'' Hildebrand, 84, died Sept. 29, 1996.
Mr. Hildebrand was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 39 years, and spent 34 years in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beatrice ``Peggy'' Hildebrand; a daughter, Joan May Pritchard of Orlando, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Karen Holloway of Michigan, Kyle Pritchard of Orlando and Kevin Pritchard of Portsmouth. He also is survived by 63 foster children and many foster grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in Broad Street United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Kathryn Pigg. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
