Mrs. Virginia Blanche Russell Edwards Johnson, 84, a resident of Old Chapel Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
Mrs. Johnson was born in South Carolina, a daughter of the late Robert and Lula Russell. She was the widow of Fletcher Harold Edwards Sr. and W. Ray Johnson. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Ann E. Porter of Newsoms, Betty E. Ricks and Kaye E. Burgess, both of Boykins, Rebecca E. Hutson of Calio; a son, Fletcher Harold Edwards Jr. of Newsoms; three sisters, Phyllis Chester of Fredericksburg, Lucy Gaston of Middleton, Texas, Eleanor Pitner of Luray, Va.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Kenneth Williams, the Rev. Durward Vaughan and the Rev. Charles Alvis. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and at other times at 22319 Old Chapel Road, Newsoms. Memorial donations may be made to Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
