GOOD TIMES DIDN'T RETURN TUESDAY

Pier fishing was good along the northern beaches at most locations Monday afternoon. Piers reported good catches of nice-sized spot, scattered croaker and a few bluefish.

Fishing slowed Tuesday, with a few fish taken, but those few represented a variety of species.

A handful of Spanish mackerel were landed from the end of Kitty Hawk Pier during morning and a few spot were taken in the afternoon.

Anglers on Avalon Pier caught speckled trout, bluefish and one albacore early in the day. Bluefish weighing 1 1/2 pounds were landed on jiggers throughout the afternoon.

A few bluefish and Spanish mackerel were landed from Nags Head Pier during the morning, but fishing was slow in the afternoon.

A mixture of small fish were taken by fishermen on Jennette's Pier during the morning, and a few bluefish were caught before dark.

A few spot and black drum were landed sporadically throughout the day on Outer Banks Pier.

On Hatteras Island, Rodanthe Pier reported plenty of small black drum and scattered croaker taken during the morning. Some nice bluefish were landed on cut bait and fireball rigs in the afternoon.

Fishing was slow early in the day on Avon Pier, but improved in the afternoon with good catches of spot and croaker reported.

Fishing was slow on Frisco Pier throughout the day.

Spot, croaker, sea mullet and a few tailor blues were landed by surfcasters from Corolla to Oregon Inlet.

Some keeper flounder, spot and bluefish were taken from both sides of Oregon Inlet.

A few spot and 2-pound bluefish were caught in the surf from Rodanthe to Buxton.

A few puppy drum, gray trout, croaker and toadfish were beached at Cape Point.

Puppy drum weighing between six and 20 pounds were landed by surf fishermen from Ramp 55 to False Point. Bluefish and small gray trout also were taken.

Pirates Cove charters caught plenty of yellowfin tuna and a few wahoo Tuesday between the 40530 and the 40550 Loran lines.

Charters of Hatteras caught a few king mackerel, fair numbers of tuna, scattered dolphin and wahoo. A white marlin was released by the Marlin Mania and a blue marlin was released by the Release. by CNB
