Christian missionaries from South Africa, Australia, China, Trinidad, Romania, Brazil, France and the Armed Forces Baptist Missions are participating in the 1996 World Missions Conference at Chesapeake's Fairview Baptist Church, through Sunday.
``To The Whole World. . . With My Whole Heart'' is the theme of the program. The music and presentations emphasize the church family and the goal of worldwide evangelism through missionary works.
The independent Baptist church helps support 35 missionary projects around the world, said the Rev. Gary H. McClenney, its pastor.
During the five-day conference, cultural displays and national flags are on display. Choral and instrumental music, slide reports of missionary work and motivating sermons are presented each day, said McClenney.
The missionaries will perform a presentation of music from around the world at 7 p.m. Friday. Each night, a missionary wife will present a program called ``A Wife's Point of View'' with experiences concerning life and lifestyles in a foreign land.
In conjunction with the 1996 World Missions Conference, the Tidewater Baptist Fellowship, representing Baptist churches throughout Hampton Roads, will meet at the church today at 10 a.m.
On Sunday morning, the missionaries will teach adult and children's classes.
Fairview Baptist Church is located at 1204 Tatemstown Road. Evening services begin at 7 p.m., and on Sunday at 9:45 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. There is no fee, and a nursery is provided for children under the age of 3. MEMO: Additional information is available by calling the church office
