Frances Bryan Ayers, 80, of the 3400 block of Winchester Drive, died Oct. 2, 1996.
A native of Pitt County, N.C., she was the widow of Lewis Russell Ayers. Mrs. Ayers retired from Caffee's Bakery and was a member of Central Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Hayward and Katherine Collins, both of Portsmouth; two sons, Lewis ``Pete'' Ayers, James ``Skinner'' Ayers, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Daisy Tracy of Virginia Beach; a brother, J.D. Bryan of Hampton; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Donny Hayward, Bud Philips and James Ayers Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. U.G. Robertson and the Rev. G. W. Harley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
