John Philip Austin, 35, of the 3400 block of Azalea Garden Road, died Oct. 2, 1996, in Dare County, N.C.
Mr. Austin was born in Norfolk, the son of the late John Littleton and Theda Peyton Austin. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a Christian.
He is survived by a brother, David Currie of Destin, Fla.; four sisters, Jane Causey of Virginia Beach, Martha Lancaster of Portsmouth, Linda Dougherty of Chesapeake, Kathy Gilmour of Hampton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Twiford's Ghent Chapel, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Tidewater Office, is in charge.
