ELLEN L. MORRELL

Ellen L. Morrell, 74, passed into the Lord's Hands Wednesday Oct. 2, 1996.

She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leonard Morrell; her parents, Mary and Harry Smith Sr., a grandchild, Tim Jones; and a great-grandchild, Kyle Oakes.

She was an active member in Liberty Spring Christian Church, Suffolk. She was a member of the Ladies Bible Class, the Senior Citizens Club, the Day Circle of the Women's Fellowship, and served on the Evangelism Committee. She was a delegate to the 1968 G.O.P. Convention and was a polling judge in the London Bridge area of Virginia Beach. Mrs. Morrell was also a volunteer of the Plaza Ladies Fire Department Auxiliary.

Survivors include seven daughters, Ellen M. Davis of West Chester, Pa., Susan M. Moore of Suffolk, Fay M. Osborne of Fredericksburg, Va., Katherine M. Jones of Rockville, Ind., Gladys R. Morrell, Karen L. Morrell, both of Virginia Beach, Debbie M. Ambrose of Chesapeake; a son, George E. Morrell of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Fay S. Hesselbacher of Cape Coral, Fla., Kay S. Johnson of Benton, Ark.; two brothers, Harry Smith Jr. of Cape Coral, John Smith of Idaho; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Liberty Spring Christian Church by Dr. Joseph A. Talley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in Hill Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times in the home of Susan M. Moore, 3841 Manning Road, Suffolk. Memorial donations may be made to Liberty Spring Christian Church Memorial Fund.
