FRED H. JOHNSON

Fred Harrison Johnson, 77, of the 600 block of Worship Court, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday Oct. 2, 1996.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Stoney Point, N.C. and retired in 1991 after 39 years as the owner of Johnson and Jolliff, Inc., an excavation contracting company in Virginia Beach. He had helped in the development of many of Virginia Beach's subdivisions. He was a member of the Tidewater Builder's Association, B.P.O.E. Elk's Lodge (NU)38 and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge (NU)39.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie P. Johnson; his loving daughter, Patty Johnson Weber of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Lisa Kelli Hibbs, Holly Denise Wright and Jake Johnson Weber. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Kelsie Lynne Hibbs and Charles William Hibbs III.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Bob E. DeWitt. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
