Letha Grimstead Ansell, 78, of the 100 block of Porchard Lane died Oct. 3, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She was born March 22, 1918, on Knotts Island, the daughter of the late Charlie and Nellie Bowden Grimstead. She was the wife of the late Fred James Ansell and a member of Knotts Island Methodist Church. She was a homemaker for her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia M. Ansell of Knotts Island, Nellie A. Twiford and Linda M. Palmer, both of Virginia Beach; a son, Donald Ray Ansell of Knotts Island; a half-sister, Blanch Grimstead; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Ronald Lee and William B. Ansell.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Knotts Island Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Jennings. A visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in Twiford Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, and all other times at the home of her daughter, Nellie A. Twiford, 5453 Morris Neck Road, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knotts Island Methodist Church.
