Joshua G. Lawton, 11, died Oct. 1, 1996, in Durham, N.C.
Joshua attended Bayview Elementary School and bravely fought and won his battle with cancer before succumbing to infection. He was born in Tampa, Fla.
Survivors include his mother, Sherri Calvert, and stepfather, Daniel Calvert; his father, Daniel Lawton, and stepmother, Tammy Lawton; a sister, Kassie Calvert; brothers, Joshua Calvert, Corey Calvert, Kyle Lawton and Cameron Lawton.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday on the beach at Sturgis Ave. beach access, Ocean View, Norfolk, by the Rev. Frances T. Moody. Donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
