Sara Ann Murphy, born in Hahira, Ga., July 3, 1913, passed away on Oct. 3, 1996.
Mrs. Murphy was a longtime resident of Norfolk and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Professionally, Mrs. Murphy designed and made women's apparel and accessories for private clientele in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. For the past many years, she has enjoyed being a loving and giving homemaker, and pursuing her favorite pastimes - gardening and fishing with her grandchildren. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Murphy and her beloved granddaughter, Emily Devlin.
Survivors include her seven children: Mary Jo Kennedy and Maureen Murphy, both of Virginia Beach, Diana Devlin of New York City, Michael Murphy and his wife, Legh of Norfolk, James Murphy and Eleanor Murphy of Lynchburg, Linda Boland and her husband, Clifford, of Gaithersburg, Md.; six grandchildren, Alexis Devlin of New York City, Kyle and Kelly Kennedy of Virginia Beach, Arlinda and Chad Boland of Gaithersburg, Md., and Hayes Huff of Norfolk; and many faithful friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family will recieve friends Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. H.D. Oiver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
