Walter Miles Morring Sr. of the 2400 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. died Oct. 2, 1996, in his home.
A retired truck driver for E.F. Thompson and Co., Mr. Morring was a native of Edenton, N.C., and a member of Macedonia United Church of Christ, Norfolk. He was also president of the Male Usher Board and Honoree Trustee Board Member. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Davis Morring; daughters, Ellen Johnson of Petersburg, Va., Regena Morring, Alfredia Cooper of Norfolk and Gwendolyn Dixson of Fort Belvor, Va.; sons, Walter Morring Jr., Willie Morring and Ronald Morring, all of Norfolk; sisters, Annie Tabb of Norfolk, Edith Haskins of Suffolk and Daisy Williams, Edenton; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Barbara Ruffin, Carolyn Speller, Cynthia Corbin, all of Norfolk, Lois Hayes, Judy Butler, both of Georgia; and a special niece, Brenda Person of Virginia Beach.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m Wednesday in Bethlehem Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. A.D. Wright. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The remains will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at the residence at noon for the procession. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
