Effie Geraldine Hoggard Thomas, 80, of 115 Copper Hill Road, died Oct. 5, 1996, at her home.
She was a native of Bertie County and a member of Greens Cross Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas was formerly employed by the Bertie County School system and was an assistant with RCA-CADA. Her last employment as a nurses' aid at Bertie Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by four sons, Garland Thomas of Williamston, N.C., Jasper Thomas of Ashboro, N.C., Stuart Thomas of Champlin Minn., Gerald Thomas of Laurel, Md.; two sisters Virtle Speller of Windsor, Mason Williford of Portsmouth; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. J.N. Baggett. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home.
