BENJAMIN SMITH III

Benjamin Smith III, 35, of the 2000 block of Parker Ave. died Oct. 3, 1996, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.

A native of Portsmouth, Mr. Smith was a Methodist and held membership in Oxon Hill, Md. He was a musician and a machine operator for Weyerhaeuser, Rochester.

Survivors include his parents, Evelyn B. Smith of Portsmouth and Benjamin Smith Jr. of Newbern, N.C.; a brother, Gary A. Smith of Portsmouth; paternal grandparents, Benjamin Smith Sr. and Catherine E. Smith of Chesapeake; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws and friends; and special friends, Ray Bunn, Evelyn Bunn and family.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Centennial Baptist Church, Portsmouth. The body will be cremated following the service. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
