VIRGINIA R. WHITE

Virginia Rinehart White, 67, died on Oct. 5, 1996, at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born in Albemarle County on Feb. 26, 1929, to William Alonzo Rinehart and Lois Smith Rinehart, who predeceased her. A sister, Susan Rinehart Coughlin, also preceded her in death.

She was married to William Henry White III on March 22, 1951, and blessed with five children and eight grandchildren: Stephen Noss White and his wife, Ellen, and their two sons, Stephen Bryan and Taylor Rinehart; Virginia White Dyer; William Henry White IV and his wife, Nancy, and their three sons, William Henry, Thomas Quincy, and Carter Gwynn; Lois White Smith and her husband, Tim, and their two children, Mary Stamps and Timothy Reid; Landon Reid White, and his wife, Jan, and their two sons, Landon Reid and Grady Rinehart. She is also survived by a brother William Alonzo Rinehart III and her sister, Jane Rinehart Janssen, both of Charlottesville.

Mrs. White was a member of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Garden Club, the Junior League, Master of the Hunt at Farmington Hunt Club and President of the Blue Ridge Appaloosa Association.

Ginna will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends who loved her deeply.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church on Park Street, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas D. Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the University Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1290 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, Va. 22901. Hill and Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
