Billie Garner Hollis, 71, of the 5400 block of Shadowwood Dr. died Oct. 3, 1996, in a local nursing home.
A native of Andalusia, Ala., he was the widower of Obie Edna Hollis, his loving wife of 34 years. A World War II veteran, he served 17 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a construction worker.
Survivors include a sister, Lynne Pearl Peacock of Troy, Ala.; a son, Alfred P. Hollis of Houston; three stepchildren, James K. Johns of Shalimar, Fla., Julian C. Johns of Virginia Beach and Sherry N. Tew of Eufaula, Ala.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m. today in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 1 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Ken King. Graveside services and burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Family members will be at the residence.
