David Paul ``Deacon'' Brown, 86, of the 200 block of Beacon Road, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, in a local nursing home.

He was a native of Appomattox County, Va. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop (NU)11, and was a member of Grace Bible Church of Chesapeake and America-Fellowship Lodge (NU)148.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma H. Brown; a daughter, Millie Ward Bringazi and a son, Douglas B. Brown, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Elnora Wilkes of Concord, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, with Masonic rites, by the Rev. Bruce W. Stutzman. Burial will be in Tucker Cemetery, Lynch Station, Va. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home of his daughter, 4303 Scott St., Portsmouth.
