A 33-year-old Suffolk man died early Sunday when the van he was driving ran off a road and overturned, police said.
John Victor Higgins Jr. of the 1200 block of Peachtree Drive was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred about 3:10 a.m. on U.S. Route 17, 1 1/2 miles south of Ballahack Road.
Police said the van Higgins was driving ran off the road, and when he tried to turn back onto the pavement, he apparently turned too sharply and the van flipped.
Higgins was not wearing a seat belt, a police spokeswoman said, and he was thrown from the van.
