GLADYS M. BRINKLEY

Gladys Marie Brinkley, 79, of the 4500 block of Columbia St., died Oct. 6, 1996, in Benton, Ky.

A native of Portsmouth, Mrs. Brinkley was a salesperson at Woolworth's Department Store and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, George Henry Brinkley.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Mitchell Lappin of Paducah, Ky.; a son, George L. Brinkley of Benton; two sisters-in-law, Louise Brinkley of Chesapeake and Ann Felton of Williamsburg; a brother-in-law, Louis Brinkley of Williamsburg; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Cofield. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church Building Fund.
