James E. Johansen, 65, died Oct. 8, 1996, in his home.
A native of Mound City, Ill., Mr. Johansen retired from Norshipco and retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief warrant officer 2.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Johansen; two daughters, Rose Mary Vallera of Virginia Beach, Amanda Ruth Dillow of Norfolk; three sons, Carl G. Johansen and James E. Johansen Jr., both of Norfolk, and L. Scott Johansen of Cresthill, Ill.; sisters, Mary Helen Talley of Orlando, Fla., Margaret Rose Day of Dequoin, Ill.; grandchildren, Edgar Dillow Jr., Travis Dillow, Summer Dillow, all of Norfolk, Joshua Johansen, William Vallera and Matthew Vallera, all of Virginia Beach.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors.
