James Edward ``Snooks'' Ritter Jr., 74, died Oct. 6, 1996.
A native of Southampton County, he was a retired farmer and a member of Gilfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Hortense Harrison of Virginia Beach; a sister, Lozea R. Lamb of Norfolk; nieces, Delores Burney of Norfolk and Rita Royster of Westminster, Md.; a nephew, Warren Lamb of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday in Gilfield Baptist Church by the Rev. Curtiss Harris. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Pretlow and Chapman Funeral Home, Smithfield. The family will assemble in the home in Ivor.
