MILITARY PEOPLE
Marine Lance Cpl. Tito J. Boykins, son of Sandy M. and Delois Boykins of Norfolk and a 1993 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, was promoted to his present rank while serving with Headquarters, Marine Wing Support Group 27, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, N.C.
Marine Pvt. Benjamin M. Scotece reported for duty at Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is the son of Cecelia M. Scotece of Norfolk and joined the Marine Corps in January.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher S. Votava, son of Leonard and Patricia Brannen of Norfolk, reported for duty aboard the amphibious command ship Mount Whitney, whose home port is Norfolk. Votava has served in the Navy since 1993.
Foraneo Gunble and Parris M. Scott, both of Norfolk, have enlisted in the Navy and will attend basic training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. Gunble, a 1996 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, is the son of Dennis and Vera Holmes of Norfolk. Scott, son of Keith and Joann Sawyer of Norfolk, is a 1995 graduate of Granby High School.
Navy Airman Apprentice Onterio L. Hammond, son of Steve and Flossie R. Strickland of Norfolk, completed the Aviation Support Equipment Technician Course at Naval Air Station Memphis.
He joined the Navy in 1995 after graduating from Booker T. Washington High School.
CAMPUS NOTES
Cadet Clint Katz, son of Deborah Manuel of Norfolk, has been promoted to the rank of Cadet Command Sergeant Major and appointed to that position for the Battalion of Cadet Corps at Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va.
