Lakeland had a chance to make a name for itself and set the record straight against Western Branch. But unfortunately for the Cavaliers, talent and execution did not match desire and heart as Lakeland fell to sixth-ranked Western Branch 40-19 at Cavalier Park on Friday.
The Cavaliers, who had beaten teams with their running game and defense, found themselves overmatched as the Bruins had 509 yards of total offense. However, a two-game Cavalier losing streak is unlikely as Lakeland travels to Chesapeake to play winless Hickory on Friday.
Nansemond River, on the other hand, has the second of its ``Mission Impossible'' battles as the Warriors take on top-ranked Deep Creek this week.
