Charlie Linwood ``Dude'' Abbott II, of the 1700 block of Springfield Ave., died Oct. 8, 1996, at his residence.
Born in Sandy Hook, N.C., he was a retired custodian for the City of Norfolk. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivor include his wife, Elizabeth Abbott; four daughters, LaRochelle Abbott Thompson of Chesapeake, Doris Graddy and Leola Earl of Virginia Beach, Patricia Edwards of Norfolk; two sons, Charlie L. Abbott III of Santa Fe, N.M., Felton Edwards of Norfolk; a sister, Eleanor Anderson Bullock of Elizabeth City; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Mary Ruth Bernard; a special grandson, Andrew K. Thompson II; a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Metropolitan AME Zion Church by Dr. Richard A. Councill. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
