The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality christened a new regional headquarters here Wednesday.
The $1.5 million building, at 5636 Southern Blvd., puts state inspectors and enforcement officials for air, water and waste issues under one roof for the first time.
The headquarters, to be leased over 10 years from a private owner, should make it easier for business and industry to obtain necessary environmental permits, as well as provide easier access to information and help for concerned citizens, said regional director Frank Daniel.
