I read the Business News series ``Who Killed the American Dream?'' (Sept. 22-29) from The Philadelphia Inquirer and I am extremely worried about the future of our country. We seem to have a government run by the lobbyists, the special-interest groups and the very rich. We are being sold out by our own elected officials. How can the average citizen make a difference?
In ``An Opposing View,'' (Sept. 29), Lon Wagner seems to think that we should focus on farming ``and agricultural techniques.'' I'm sorry to say that an agrarian economy is not going to employ enough people and at a high enough wage to support America as we currently know it. No one will be able to afford (much less need) that ``good, white dress shirt.''
The left hand of the government doesn't know what the right hand is doing and couldn't care less as long as they are getting their cut. If we don't change the import-to-export disparity, if we don't stop the migration of jobs out of this country, and if we don't stop the migration of people in, we are doomed.
