Harriett P. Wood, 83, of the 7500 block of Rosefield Drive, died Oct. 8, 1996, in a local hospital.
A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of Welton Wood. She was one of the Mothers of the Church at Brotherly Love Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include 10 daughters, Velma Barnes, Patty Walker, Rose Wiggins, Edith Askew, Carolyn Ridley, Connie Allen-Baker and Lila Evans, all of Norfolk, Claudia Romero of Norfolk, Annette Spivey of Chesapeake and Wanda Bellamy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Leroy Woods and Clifford Wood, both of Norfolk; a sister, Annie Hamlin of Norfolk; three brothers, George Johnson, John Johnson Sr. of Portsmouth and Steven Johnson of Norfolk; 46 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:30 Saturday in New Hope Church of God in Christ, 3232 Brest Ave., Norfolk, by Dr. Herman Clark Sr. and Elder Wilbert Miller. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble for the procession at 7539 Rosefield Drive, Norfolk, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
