Edward James Genther Jr., 80, died Oct. 9, 1996, in an Elizabeth City hospital.
Mr. Genther was born in Riverhead, Long Island, N.Y. He lived in Vineland, N.J., for 60 years and retired as a glass blower at Lurex Glass Co. He was an active charter member of the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church. He was the son of the late Edward James Genther Sr. and the late Augusta Koenig Genther, and the husband of Helen Kohler Genther.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Arlene G. Price of Corolla; a son, Edward James Genther III of Camp Hill, Pa.; a brother, Henry F. Genther of Miami, Fla., and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Outer Banks Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Spottswood Graves. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, N.C. 27605 or the American Heart Association Dare County Unit, P.O. Box 215, Kill Devil Hills, N.C. 27948. Twiford's Funeral Home, Manteo, is in charge.
