SOUTHAMPTON SPEEDWAY'S DIRT CLASH 250 WILL DRAW THE REGION'S TOP DRIVERS

Over $30,000 in prize money will be at stake in the East Coast Dirt Clash 250 this weekend, to be held at Southampton Speedway in Capron.

Practice for the non-points event - which is expected to draw track drivers from around the region's dirt tracks - is scheduled for two afternoon sessions (2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.) today.

On Saturday, time trials will be held to fill the first row for all six classes (Super Late Model, Late Model Stock, Limited Sportsman, 4-Cylinder Modified, Super Stock and Pure Stock). The remaining drivers will then participate in a pair of 10-lap races for each class to determine positions 3-14 for Sunday's races. Top-six finishers in a heat race will advance to Sunday's feature.

Non-qualifiers at that point will participate in a 15-lap ``hooligan'' race for each class to fill out the 24-car field.

Top-10 finishers from the race will move into positions 15-24, depending on their finish in the Sunday qualifying race.

The races start at 2 p.m.

Admission for today's practices is $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Pit admission costs $10.

Admission for Saturday's qualifying is $15 for pit admission, $10 for adult general admission and $5 for children 6-12. Admission for Sunday's features is $20 for pit admission, $15 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Children under 6 are admitted free with a paid admission for all three days. by CNB
